Sonatina Arguably in A Major

Michael Cutler

# of Players: 2

Instrumentation: Violin, Piano

Difficulty: Medium-Advanced

Duration: 5:55

A short, cyclical, two-movement work for violin and piano. The opening movement makes use of the overtone series to colour the atmospheric introduction and accompaniment patterns. Two themes are introduced, one more melodic, one canonic and imitative. Both themes are revisited (in reverse order) in the more energetic second movement, which makes use of more folk-like idioms as well as some less-tonal ideas.
