# of Players: 1
Instrumentation: Solo Vibraphone
From the composer:
Sleeptime is a sister work to the other vibraphone solo in the “Meditations” bundle, Open, because it is so slow and accessible to interpretation through rubato. This work specifically calls for two measure phrasing and in my performance; I really milked some of those moments. Other players may do something different! Either way, the affect intended is calming relaxation to help lull someone to sleep because it is bedtime. Sleeptime is about falling asleep. It is not about sleeping, but more about that time where you are almost in slumberland, but your mind is not dreaming yet. It is about that giddy feeling you might get before bedtime because you know you get to cuddle up with your down comforter, but remember… it is bedtime, relaxation time… Sleeptime. You could close your eyes while playing it to get into that headspace and let the phrasing come to you that way. Either way, it will be a time of musical interpretation, expression, and meditative relaxation.
